History of the Lilac Ragdoll
Lilac, the dilute of Chocolate, appeared as breeders worked with chocolate-carrying lines. It stayed relatively rare while Seal and Blue dominated. Today, it's a recognized favorite in CFA and TICA for its pastel elegance.
What Is a Lilac?
Think lavender-gray points on the face, ears, tail, and legs with a near-white torso. Kittens start white and develop color as they mature. Because colorpoint expression is temperature-sensitive, cooler living spaces can bring slightly deeper lavender tones.
Patterns
Lilac is available across all patterns: Colorpoint, Mitted, Bicolor, and Van. You'll also find Lilac Lynx (tabby striping over the points) and Lilac Tortie (cream/red mottling blended into the lavender).
Paw Pads and Nose
Pads and nose leather usually read lavender-pink. Patterned cats can show pink pads on white areas or a mottled mix.
Temperament and Personality
Same chill, people-centric demeanor the breed is known for. They thrive on routine, cuddles, and being near their humans.
Grooming and Care
Weekly brushing keeps the silky coat in top shape. Because the body is so light, clean grooming really makes the soft lavender points pop.
Eye Color
Always blue in the traditional division. Aqua belongs to Cherubim ; green or gold aligns with Sepia and Solid .
